A special edition Fire Emblem Fates-themed New Nintendo 3DS XL handheld will be released when the role-playing game launches in North America on February 19, announced Nintendo today.
The handheld will feature artwork on its face and back inspired by the game and will retail for $199.99 (USD).
One slight drawback is that the handheld won’t come bundled with the game its tied to. Fire Emblem Fates will be sold separately as a pair of releases, much like Nintendo does with its popular Pokemon series. Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest will retail for $39.99 (USD) each, with each version telling a different perspective on the storyline.
Players can purchase the mirror to the version they choose in store digitally for $19.99 (USD). A third story, Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation, can additionally be purchased for $19.99 (USD) when it’s released on March 10.
Players also have the option to purchase the whole package, which includes all three versions, in a special edition that retails for $79.99 (USD).
Nintendo of America have also detailed the DLC release schedule for Fire Emblem Fates‘. Nintendo plans to release new maps “on a regular basis,” starting on Feb. 19. As is par for the course with this kind of affair, players can purchase new maps individually as they release or pay $17.99 (USD) upfront for the map pack, that will contain 11 maps.
Fire Emblem Fates and the corresponding limited edition New Nintendo 3DS XL handheld will release in North America February 19.
