The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed the rumor that there will indeed be amiibo functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on Wii U.
The article mentions how the Wolf Link amiibo can be tapped during certain points in the game to unlock a new dungeon, which when translated is called “Thorough Battle: Trial of the Beast”. Upon clearing this dungeon, the player will be granted the “Bottomless Wallet”, which holds up to 9,999 rupees, according to Nintendo fansite Nintendo Everything.
It was also confirmed that players will be able to use the Wolf Link amiibo to import ‘certain data’ from Twilight Princess HD into the new Zelda game.
Not only will the Wolf Link amiibo have functionality within The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, but so will other Zelda themed amiibo. Link and Toon Link will replenish your arrows; Zelda and Sheik replenish your hearts; and the Ganondorf amiibo will buff Link resulting in double damage to enemies.
The Wolf Link amiibo can be purchased separately or come bundled with the special edition of the game, which is currently slated for $99 (AUD).
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD releases for Wii U on March 14.
