A marine terror is approaching the Oceanic region, and League of Legends players are being called upon to help. Ocean Week hits local servers from January 23-31, and there are seven key locations that need to be defended.
This year, Ocean Week has a number of events to be held on certain dates. Last year, players unlocked the main Ocean Week prize in just three days – an artificial reef shaped as Nautilus, which will be placed off the Australian coast.
Thousands of players are expected to jump into the in-game event, which hits the following cities in the coming days:
- Battle 1 (January 23 – 24): Melbourne
- Battle 2 (January 25): Perth
- Battle 3 (January 26): Adelaide
- Battle 4 (January 27): Auckland
- Battle 5 (January 28): Suva (Fiji)
- Battle 6 (January 29): Brisbane
- Battle 7 (January 30 – 31): Sydney
Yep, rather than just sticking to the big Australian cities, little old Adelaide and Perth get a look-in, as does Auckland in New Zealand, and Suva, the capital of Fiji. Each of these cities needs to be defended (by reaching a specific number of points). If (when!) the cities are saved and the final battle is won, Riot is promising a pretty nifty grand prize: A community mural located in a “major city in Oceania”, featuring the summoner names of everyone who’s taken part in Ocean Week.
For more information, head to the Ocean Week website, which is also where you can find details on the exciting cosplay competition and how to win a chance to help design the official Ocean Week mural!
