According to a recent report out of Digital Foundry, the game is struggling on the technical side; not just with frame-rate but also resolution. That said, ARK: Survival Evolved is currently in Game Preview on Xbox One, which is essentially the console’s version of Early Access, so there is still time for it to be corrected.
During a frame-rate test for the Xbox One version, the game rarely achieved the 30 frames-per-second target, with drops as low as 14fps when on screen foliage increased or items were added to the mix. The testers also commented that these dips effected the controller input, as the frame drops introduced considerable lag.
As previously mentioned the resolution isn’t all that flash either, coming in lower than 720p.
Again, just to reiterate, the port is currently still in development on Xbox One, so hiccups like this are to be expected. Let’s just hope they’re ironed out before the consumer release.
