2016 is shaping up to be a big year for eSports, with Valve now announcing the first Dota 2 major will be held in the South East Asia region in the coming months. The eyes of the world will be on the Philippines, as the Manila Major sets a date for early June.
The reveal comes after the 16-team lineup for the Shanghai Major is revealed – the Group Stage kicks off for that one on February 25, followed by the Main Event from March 2-6 in Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The lineup includes eight invited teams and eight newly-qualified entrants (two from each region):
After that though, it’s Manila’s turn – as “established teams and upstarts alike” are invited to duke it out for their chance to compete on the main stage in the Philippines.
For gamers looking to take part in The International 2016, this will be your last chance to prove you are the best in the world and earn your place in Seattle in August.
