Get your pre-orderin’ fingers ready: You’ll be able to hand over a stack of cash for the Oculus Rift VR Headset this week, even though we don’t know quite how big a stack it’ll be just yet.
Pre-orders officially open on January 6 at 8am PT (What’s that in my timezone?). Starting two hours before that, company founder Palmer Luckey will be answering questions on Reddit – and we’re guessing that the issue of cost will probably be raised then.
The company is keeping oddly quiet on the topic, saying only that it will reveal further details when it’s able to share them. For something that will inevitably make people decide whether or not to use the product, this seems a little odd (we’re hoping this doesn’t mean the price tag will be too astronomical).
Remember, the VR headset will not be used just for gaming, with a copy of animated short film Henry included with every purchase. That said, you’ll also get a copy of my favourite Rift-friendly game, Lucky’s Tale for free. If you pre-order, you’ll get a second game, 3D space combat sim EVE: Valkyrie thrown in as well.
