Man, Double Fine and Schafer just can’t get enough stage time at the PlayStation Experience event, taking the spotlight again to announce HD remasters of both Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle.
The creatively titled Full Throttle Remastered will be made available for both PS4 and PS Vita and will mark the completion of Double Fine trilogy of LucasArts published games being remastered.
It will feature all-new artwork, with high-resolution backgrounds and animation, with each frame having been repainted by hand. Along with the redone visuals, Double Fine wants to truly complete the package and restore the sound and music to a higher quality. It will also ship with special features such as concept artwork, commentary tracks, and other little tid-bits.
A release date, you ask? Nothing as of yet, I’m afraid.
Day of the Tentacle Remaster (again with the suffix) has itself a release date of sometime in the first quarter of 2016, for the PlayStation 4 and Vita.
It too will feature all new, hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music, and sound effects. In a nostalgia laden twist, players will also be able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes a la Halo: Anniversary.
DotT: Remaster will also contain a plethora of special features, including concept art and a commentary track featuring the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell, and Clint Bajakian.
