Three years after the release of developer Vblank Entertainment’s Retro City Rampage, a sequel has been announced via the PlayStation Blog EU. This new entry is titled Shakedown Hawaii, and will be heading to PS4, Vita, PC and 3DS.
RCR was a top-down, 8-bit styled action game that was heavily inspired by Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2, and popular culture from the 1980s and 90s. It released in 2012 on PS3, Vita, PC, Xbox 360, 3DS, was the last original WiiWare title, and eventually came to PS4 in late 2014.
Shakedown Hawaii continues the story of The Player 30 years after his original adventure, featuring similarly styled game play. However this time it sports a 16-bit visual style and incorporates destructible environments, by way of combat/weapons and vehicles.
Further details are scarce at the moment, however the PS Blog notes that it will be playable at their PlayStation Experience event on December 5th-6th. A release date has not yet been announced.
