Cult Canadian internet sensation Pure Pwnage is back. We’ve been waiting for three years for the movie to make it to cinemas, but it looks like the time is very nearly upon us. Check out the brand new trailer, and pack your bags: The world premiere of Pure Pwnage: Teh Movie is hitting Toronto, Canada, on January 23, 2016.
No word yet on how people in other locations will be able to watch the movie, but the team at ROFLMAO Productions is planning a live screening tour, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. They’ve visited Australia before…
So. If you don’t know what all of this is about, Pure Pwnage is… was… a sort of online mockumentary series first launched more than ten years ago. The webseries followed the life of Jeremy, the self-proclaimed “best gamerer”, told through the eyes of his brother Kyle, an aspiring film maker. Jeremy, so the story goes, had spent his entire life in a basement, where his only interactions with the outside world were through video games.
The film has been in the works since a 2012 crowdfunding campaign, but things were very quiet until a teaser trailer showed up earlier this year. Today’s update shows more about what we can expect – which looks just like the series we knew and loved, with a slightly higher production budget.
More details on story and actors to come – as well as information on where you’ll be able to watch if you can’t get to Toronto. Word on the street hints at a digital release in March – we’ll keep you posted.
Oh, and if you’d like to know more about the Xobo XL headset Jeremy is wearing in the film, here’s a handy infodump.
