Bombs delay: 3D Realms’ Bombshell will miss 2015 target

Because we love a good isometric action RPG, we’re a little bit excited about the upcoming release of Bombshell, from 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment. However, looks like we’ll have to keep our hype levels up a little while longer, as the game won’t be making its promised 2015 release date.

The good news, though: It’s only missing it by a little bit. The studio promises that the game will be ready on January 29, 2016 – hopefully after you’ve recovered from the holiday gaming binges and are looking for something new to play.

Bombshell, you may remember, was first introduced to us as Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, which sounded very interesting but unwittingly sparked a lawsuit between 3D Realms and Gearbox Software to determine just who owned the rights to the Duke.

Turns out he’s Gearbox property now, so Bombshell introduces a new – female! – protagonist, Global Defense Force Colonel Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison. Yes, she has a gun for an arm. What of it?

Bombshell is in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One – for more information, check out our interview with Interceptor’s Fredrik Schreiber!
