Official list: All the Xbox 360 games you can play on Xbox One this week

As if you didn’t already have enough new stuff to play this week, Microsoft is about to drop a(nother) bucketload on you: Xbox One backwards compatibility launches as part of the New Xbox One Experience on November 12, bringing with it more than 100 new/old games.

The official list comes directly from Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, who seems more than a bit pleased with the announcement (which was originally made at E3). And why shouldn’t he be? The 100+ list includes the entire Gears of War catalogue, Castle Crashers, Borderlands, Assassin’s Creed II, and – as a treat for those who want to step back in time before stepping into the wasteland – Fallout 3.

At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible. We’re taking a major step forward in that journey on November 12 when we start rolling out the New Xbox One Experience with Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

Ybarra also points out that this list is certainly not yet complete. Not only are more games set to be announced (and released!) in December, all Xbox 360 games available through Games With Gold after November 12 will also be fully playable on Xbox One. Expect old favourites like the BioShock series, Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and even Skate 3.

Is your favourite Xbox 360 game not on the list? Want to play it on your new hardware? Let people know! Visit the Xbox Feedback website and vote on the existing nominations – or add your own to the list. Nothing is guaranteed, but if nobody knows you want it, it definitely won’t get made.
