We love charts here at Player Attack, and one of the highlights of our week is receiving the latest details from UKIE, who send us the 10 best-selling titles in Britain, as announced by The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment.
It was a big week in the UK, with pop culture fans expected to choose between fireworks for Guy Fawkes night, cinema tickets and popcorn to watch Spectre and buying video games. After the dust (and gunpowder) settled, Call of Duty: Black Ops III hasn’t done too badly for itself, hitting #1 with a bullet. It’s the 7th best-selling Call of Duty title on debut, but it’s also done itself a disservice – UK charts run Sunday to Saturday, and Black Ops III was released on Friday. That means the six better-selling games had a significant 5 day sell-through advantage, so this new one has done rather well indeed! (Statistics nerds: 91% of sales are on Xbox One and PS4, compared to 68% for last year’s COD: Advanced Warfare.)
The only other new entry in the top 10 is Need for Speed, which drifts into the charts at #3, behind both Black Ops III and a bit of
soccer football, as FIFA 16 climbs back up to #2.
One interesting inclusion – due most likely to retailer promotions – is 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, which has snuck in at #10, after hanging out at #15 last week. It got mixed reviews on launch, but do people like it better now?
