In case you missed it, Saturday was November 7 – N7 Day – Mass Effect Day! While the next game in the franchise is still a little while off, the team at BioWare were more than happy to post a teaser video for Mass Effect: Andromeda, with a very familiar voice over.
…yep, that’s original FemShep, Jennifer Hale, doing the narration, even though we’ve been told explicitly that the Shepard character will not be appearing in Andromeda. The new game is set significantly after the events of the original trilogy, so this new trailer seems to be a retrospective of sorts. There’s a healthy dose of genuine NASA footage thrown in, plus a good look at a brand new in-game ship.
Let the rumours and conspiracy theories begin: Was the ship sent off during the events of Mass Effect 3, so its path has played out regardless of which ending you chose? Is it a colony ship destined for the Andromeda galaxy, far away from the reapers? Is it something else entirely?
We won’t know for a while yet. Mass Effect: Andromeda isn’t due out until “holiday 2016” (a timeframe that’s likely to shift between now and then), so we’re left to grasp at these sneaky tidbits for at least another 12 months or so. When it does launch, it’ll hit PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
