Believe it or not, there was a crazy time in the history of videogames when Resident Evil was considered a serious game, for serious kids, with serious content…like giant spiders. It’s only with the childhood ruining superpower called hindsight, that we can now see how wonderfully hammy the originals were; as opposed the to unintentionally hammy ones that Capcom likes to pump out nowadays.
Anywho, for those cats out there that want to relive the sophisticated and impeccably delivered dialogue from 1996- sans the tank-like controls and muddy PS one textures- boy, are you in luck! A modder by the name of Bunny undertook the grueling task of jamming the original voice acting back into the recently released HD remaster.
“It took me a long time to finish this mod mainly because there were more than 500 audio files to edit,” said Bunny. “And the dialogues were already mixed with sound effects like footsteps, gunshots, enemies, etc. So at some point the editing process became tedious and I had to take breaks more often.”
The mod / monument to gaming’s past is available to grab here. Now sit back, boot it up, let the atmosphere build, and enjoy seeing it shattered every time someone opens their mouth!
