In case you missed it, October 21, 2015 is the date Marty McFly visited in Back To The Future II. Social media is melting down, websites are posting tributes, that one friend is admitting proudly that she’s never seen the films and never wants to, and Psyonix has released a DeLorean DLC for Rocket League.
The car itself – the DeLorean DMC-12 – was the first and only car made by the DeLorean Motor Company. It hit roads in 1981, and didn’t really do very well. It was expensive, slow and heavy, but that’s only in the real world. In a video game, the DMC-12 can be whatever you want, as long as it has stainless steel panelling and gull-wing doors – and maybe a flux capacitor in the back. It’s a perfect fit for Rocket League!
The virtual DMC-12 has been pretty seriously customised. Neon lights, rocket boosters, an aftermarket engine, hoverwheels and even a “burning rubber” trail all add up to a pretty neat addition to your garage. Sure, it’s not necessarily road-worthy, but this is a game where you use cars to play soccer, so…
You can pick up the Back to the Future Car Pack for Rocket League right now via Steam – it’ll set you back less than $2. It’s not quite a hoverboard, but it’s still prety neat.
