Hear that? It’s the sound of id Software fanboys everywhere frantically clicking refresh on their inbox screen! And with good reason, mind you.
Publisher of the new gore-filled ode to PC gaming’s past, Bethesda, have been sending out invites to the closed multiplayer alpha test for Doom 4; starting this Friday, Oct. 23!
Take note though, this is not the Beta access they promoted on copies of Wolfenstien: The New Order, this is something different. The official Doom website calls it “a series of development-driven tests designed to stress test the game’s dedicated server infrastructure in a real-world consumer environment” and is no way representative of the finished product. Man, you’ve gotta love obligatory legal speak. What you’ll get instead will be limited to one map, take the form of a six-versus-six team deathmatch and feature a small set of the games weapons.
Just to clarify- or be the bad news bear in some cases- alpha access codes will only be sent to those who purchased Wolfenstien: The New Order before May 26 2014 and took the time to plug the resulting code into the official Doom website. For those of you who missed out, well, I’m sure footage will be on Youtube for you to vicariously live through before you know it!
