Prepare your surprised faces: Star Wars Battlefront is popular. Really popular. More popular than a lot of other things that are also popular. The recent beta is officially the single largest beta in EA‘s long-running history, with more than nine million people logging in to play.
Senior Producer on the game, Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir from DICE, says the team “could not be happier” that so many people wanted to check out what all the fuss was about.
Ever since we revealed Star Wars Battlefront back in April, we knew the beta would be a huge test for our game. After all, the beta has been one of the most talked about topics around the game over the last six months, and it was exciting (and a little nerve racking if I’m being completely honest) to open it up to the world.
Comparing the gaming public to “Han Solo at the end of A New Hope“, Ingvarsdottir is grateful for the invaluable feedback everyone has been submitting to the dev team. Of course, there’s more to the experience than just what was available in the beta test, and the studio is continuing to “tune and balance” Star Wars Battlefront in the leadup to the launch from November 17 (November 19 in Europe).
Thank you, and may the Force be with you, always.
