BioWare is working with Cedar Fair to create a “dynamic 3D adventure” set in the Mass Effect universe. The interactive ride will be part of California’s Great America, and sends visitors on a journey to a distant planet.
Of course, the trip won’t all be smooth sailing – you’ll travel through some awe-inspiring landscapes, face off against larger-than-life enemies and fight to save the day! The developers are using cutting-edge 3D technology, 4D effects and a live performer to create the most lifelike experience ever. (We’re guessing it’ll be something like the Star Tours experience at Disneyland, where visitors are treated to a 3D, motion-simulated “ride” that never actually leaves the ground.)
California’s Great America Vice President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg explains:
Teaming with a world-wide gaming leader like EA will enable us to build an incredible user experiencefor Great America guests. This combination of technology and creative video game content is sure to usher in a new wave of entertainment innovation at amusement parks.
Details are still a bit slim, but we’re sure this will become Commander Shepard’s favourite ride at California’s Great America when it opens in 2016.
