You don’t have to wait long to play Minecraft: Story Mode – developer Telltale Games has officially announced the first episode of the game will launch in mid-October for home consoles, smartphones and both Windows and Mac PCs.
Mark your calendars: Minecraft: Story Mode lands on PC, Mac, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 13, hitting iOS and Android devices a couple of days later. Dates have not yet been revealed for the Wii U or PlayStation Vita release, but we don’t advise you hold your breath on that one.
Of course, if you’d like a physical copy (which features Episode 1 and a Season Pass for the remaining episodes), that’s another option, but it’s lagging two weeks behind the digital version. You can pick up a copy for PlayStation and Xbox platforms from October 27 in North America and October 30 in Europe (no specific word yet on AU/NZ dates), with a PC version also promised for European release.
The game puts an all-new spin on the ridiculously-popular Minecraft formula, with a star-studded lineup telling a tale of four avatars on a quest to find The Order of the Stone. For the first time in a Telltale series, you can customise your main character. Jesse can be male or female, voiced by either Patton Oswalt or Catherine Taber, respectively. Other voice actors on the project include Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.
We won’t know the planned release dates for the remaining episodes until much closer to the dates, so – if you want to get in on the action, you’d best grab Minecraft: Story Mode nice and early!
