PS1 gets a documentary to celebrate its 20th year of being awesome!

As you may have surmised from the title, I’m a smidge of a PlayStation fan. But then again, what’s there not to love about the little gray rectangle. It brought with it industry changing hardware, software and blew my mind by letting me not only dominate an X and Y axis but also a Z. A gosh darn Z!

Use the Z axis, Crash! Use it!

Use the Z axis, Crash! Use it!

Anywho, I’m not the only one to think this way with former Joystiq contributing editor Danny Cowan taking his admiration to the Nth degree and making a documentary about it.

Titled PlayStation Year One, the documentary looks at the console’s historical impact and how its “landmark games and the creators defined modern industry trends.”

The first episode launched a couple of days ago, and covers the first ten games available on the CD-ROM powered beast! Check it out below.

If you dug what you watched or just the premise in general, you can help fund future episodes at the Patreon campaign that Cowen and crew have set up.
