We love charts here at Player Attack, and one of the highlights of our week is receiving the latest details from UKIE, who send us the 10 best-selling titles in Britain, as announced by The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment.
The last time a Metal Gear game topped the All Formats chart was back in 2008, but it’s in no way surprising that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has taken out the #1 spot on debut this week. It’s actually the highest-selling opening week for the series, beating Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty by more than 35%. In fact, it’s the third-best selling first-week title of 2015, after Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3.
It’s not really surprising then that the week’s other Big Name title has had to settle for second-best: Mad Max has made a very solid start, and likely would have topped the charts had it not been for that pesky Kojima!
