Destiny expansion does away with Dinklage

Your Destiny is about to change (har har), as Bungie reveals Peter Dinklage is being wiped from the game’s history. Everybody knew Dinklage’s voice acting was somewhat sub-par, but it’s still a drastic move from the developer.

Veteran voice actor Nolan North will not only be recording new lines for the in-game Ghost starting with the upcoming The Taken King update, but he’s also re-recording all of the orb’s lines, officially removing all trace of the original Dinklage audio.

According to the latest edition of Game Informer, North (best known as the voice of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series) will be using the same script as Dinklage, but (hopefully) imbuing the character with a little more …spark.

I was really excited to do this role. You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.

Sure, it seems odd to be cutting such a big-name actor out of a game, but when you consider how poorly-received the original Dinklage vocal track was, and the fact that the actor has not appeared in either of Destiny‘s two DLC packs, it’s not a huge surprise.

Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15.
