‘Lo Hero, doth ye have the battle shakes awaiting the sun to rise and reveal the latest Hearthstone content ov’ yonder? Yeah, I apologize. Won’t be doing that again. Anyway, it’s been a couple of months since the last major content add-on, Blackrock Mountain, dropped for players of Hearthstone and it doesn’t look like they’ll have to wait much longer for the next.
Late yesterday, a handful of publications including PC Gamer and Polygon received word of this in the form of a ye ol’ scroll (I’m not apologizing for that one), which, upon opening, played a trumpet greeting and read:
Well met, hero!
Champions are gathering from around the world to witness the next exciting thing Hearthstone has in store. News travels far and wide in search of brave new faces ready to answer the call to arms — are you one of them?
Muster for battle and mark July 22 on your calendar. The next bit of news won’t come by carrier pigeon — thankfully, we have much better ways of communication now.
Word floating around the Hearthstone community is that this alludes to the next add-on being themed around the Argent Tournament, an event from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King’s 3.1 patch.
It’s unclear whether this new content will be like the Blackrock Mountain add-on (which provided single-player challenges and around 30 new cards) or more like the Goblins Vs. Gnomes content, which was more like a traditional expansion, bring 120 new cards and more options into the fold. As fun as speculation is, Blizzard ain’t the kind to accidentally let anything slip, so it looks like all we can do is wait until July 22 to hear more.
