It’s comic book season! Well, comic book announcement season, anyway. Dark Horse has popped up again today, this time working with Activision and Treyarch to create a “thrilling comic book series” that acts as a prequel to upcoming game Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
Written by comic veteran Larry Hama (G.I. Joe) and drawn by Marcelo Ferreira (Transformers, TMNT), the new series will follow a bunch of cybernetically enhanced soldiers (that is, cyborgs), waging a secret war across a “futuristic, war-torn world transformed by technology”.
The adventure kicks off in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the team targetting a double agent – but something much more sinister may actually be at play.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III #1 will be on comic stands starting November 4, 2015 (a couple of days before the game arrives for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on November 6), but if you want a sneaky peek, head along to San Diego Comic-Con and visit the Dark Horse booth (#2615). You’ll be able to pick up a free, exclusive, mini-comic that should whet your appetite… but remember, this comic contains some pretty serious violence, so it might not be suitable for gamers under 18.
