Excited for a little Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 next year? You might not need to wait so long to find out what’s going on in Zomburbia, as Dark Horse Comics confirms a brand-new, tie-in comic.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare – the comic – fits in neatly between the original Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare game (which saw Dr. Zomboss and his legions of zombie minions attacking Suburbia) and the upcoming sequel (set when the zombies had taken over, and the plants were on the warpath). The comic tells the story of how exactly Dr. Zomboss conquered the leafy suburb – he’s got some all-new tricks up his sleeve and, of course, an army of minions to do his dirty work!
…and, of course, Crazy Dave makes an appearance as well (something about an ice-cream cruise?), while heroes Nate and Patrice discover “horticultural help from the future and the past”.
Jeremy Vanhoozer, senior creative director at developer PopCap Games explains:
We’re excited to partner with Dark Horse Comics to tell the origin story of how Dr. Zomboss came to power in Suburbia. This pivotal moment in Plants vs. Zombies history is entertaining and hilarious, and will draw readers into this crazy world with these over-the-top characters like never before. I can’t wait for fans to get their hands on this new series.
The book has been written – just like the earlier ones – by Eisner-winning “comic genius” Paul Tobin, with art from “artistic wunderkind” Jacob Chabot… and it’ll be on shelves from October 28.
If you can’t wait even that long, you can always grab Plants vs. Zombies: Lawnmageddon or Plants vs. Zombies: Timepocalypse – print versions are available now in all good book stores and comic shops, while you can also snag digital versions, if that’s something you’re into.
