So, I’m just gonna throw this out there. Independence Day 2 probably sits somewhere between a mean UTI and crippling self doubt on the list of things you never asked for but, god damn it, life’s just gonna throw at you anyway.
The master of blowing up recognisable monuments to elicit cheap emotional reactions and movies where the plot always centres around the world getting some kind of fucked up, Roland Emmerich, is back. Fantastic. FYI, sarcastic inflection doesn’t work to well in written form. So, yeah. That was sarcasm in it’s highest degree.
TheWrap has reported that Boardwalk Empire’s Travis Tope is the newest face set to join the franchise. Oh god, that means they plan on making even more! Tope is set to join Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jessie Usher alongside the returning Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox.
As plot goes, details are pretty loose. So far we know that Usher will be playing Dylan Hiller, the son of Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller from the original film. Hopefully the ability to ward of an alien invasion, one liners and looking good whilst doing it are inheritable traits.
Independence Day 2 will apparently be hitting cinemas in 2016. Can’t wait to see what they blow up this time…maybe the moon? American’s love the moon, right?
