That rumbling you hear in the distance is a new version of World of Tanks making its way slowly to Xbox One. The free-to-play multiplayer game has settled in quite happily on Xbox 360, and now it’s time to expand into a new battle arena, a little later this year.
T.J. Wagner, Executive Producer of Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore, explains:
A year ago, World of Tanks arrived on Xbox 360 and has flourished, adding millions of players to the global ranks of Wargaming tankers. Wargaming’s invasion into the console space is fully underway. Our forces are aligned and we are proud to advance to the next level on the Xbox One platform.
Making the deal even sweeter, cross-platform play means that Xbox One gamers will be able to play with (or against!) their comrades on Xbox 360. Both games will receive identical content updates, and share a common battle server as well as the same player community (this is, unfortunately, different to the PC playerbase).
…if you’ve already been playing World of Tanks on Xbox 360 and want to shift completely to the new console, you won’t miss out: All of your in-game progress and World of Tanks account will migrate quite happily onto Xbox One, so you’ll be able to “play with confidence”.
To play, you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold membership, and the game is completely free to download. There is additional in-game content that you can purchase separately (for real-world money), but this is completely optional.
