With the news yesterday- accompanied by the subsequent, collective kilolitres of excitement pee- that Marvel will produce the next Spider-Man film, people got to questioning: ‘where’s Spidey’s film gonna fit in your concrete and graphically pretty release schedule?”
The answer, True Believers, basically boils down to ‘screw Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and the Inhumans! Delay them all! We got our boy back!’
Spider-Man’s release date of July 28, 2017 was going to put it head to head with Thor: Ragnarok and that’s what dudes in suits like to call a bad business move. So, with Spidey joining Marvels cinematic universe, Thor’s been bumped back till Nov. 3, 2017. This re-jiggling of releases also sees a few other changes, with Black Panther now releasing on July 6, 2018. Captain Marvel will follow suit later that year on Nov. 2, 2018. And Marvel’s Inhumans won’t see screens till July 12, 2019.
Unsurprisingly, this shuffle won’t affect the next 2 Avengers films- as Marvel still loves the licence to print money- with the gang hitting screens May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, respectively…possibly with Spidey. Who knows!
