Today Namco Bandai dropped a new trailer for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin (a re-release of the second best game of all time, complete with all DLC- totally no bias there…), giving gaming masochists a little taste of what we can expect come April 7.
Other than salivating at how much better it looks, I ended up doing something I swore I’d never do. I actually sat and dissected the trailer looking for what new horrors to brace for- yep, I’ve stumbled into that territory of fanboy-ism.
Veteran cursed undead will be overly familiar with the majority of the trailer, as it mainly shows off staple locations like Majula and Heide’s Tower of Flame but then it goes and throws some interesting curve balls our way.
The trailer shows the Pursuer (also known as the floating asshole with the huge glowing sword) lurking around the start of the game in Things Betwixt. Oh and he happens to be rolling with 2 Orge bodyguards, ’cause, you know, Dark Souls. The other big bad, who’s apparently decided to saunter somewhere it’s not welcome, is the Flexile Sentry, who’s now kicking it in the flooded section of Sinners Rise. Hell, why not. I didn’t want them souls always…
Another stand out addition is the imposing scythe wielding Black Phantom. Let speculation go wild but he may be one of the new NPCs FromSoftware was talking about adding, as- according to the screenshots- he appears in many different locations throughout Drangleic.
I was psyched for this already but now, oh, now I just can’t contain the urge to get brutally murdered, over and over again on my pursuit of…something. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will release on April 7 for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Window PC.
