This was going to be a happy announcement, all about the latest content for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, but it seems Gearbox has made a bit of a boo-boo. The brand new DLC for the game – the Lady Hammerlock Pack – is wonderful, but the accompanying update seems to have broken the game.
It’s a very specific break, but one that’s affecting more than a handful of fans.
Specifically, when the update is applied, putting three items of purple rarity into the Grinder has the potential to cause a crash. The team is hard at work at addressing this issue as quickly as possible — until then, we recommend players use the Grinder at their own risk.
The problem, of course, is that the update is required if you want to play online or check out the new expansion. If you’re okay with missing out on all that, then you can choose not to accept the update on console, or play with Steam in offline mode.
Don’t be so hasty to decide you want to miss out: The Lady Hammerlock Pack is completely worth the effort. Lady Aurelia the Baroness (Sir Hammerlock’s older sister) is a new playable character – and she comes with a new sniper rifle, and the new action skill Cold as Ice, plus a few other tidbits. If you’ve picked up the $30 DLC season pass, this one’s included as part of that – otherwise, you can pick it up separately for US$10 (or thereabouts).
Right now, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is only available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC – but remember, it’s also headed to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 very soon, as part of the Handsome Collection. Hopefully by then, the bugs will have been squished.
