Surprise! Rock Band gets new downloadable songs

Things have been a little quiet in the Rock Band camp for nearly two years now, but that’s all about to change. As of this week, three new songs have been added to the downloadable library for Rock Band 3 – and they’re all pretty rockin’.

The songs – featuring Avenged Sevenfold, Arctic Monkeys and perennial favourites Foo Fighters – will cost “around $2 each” depending on your region. Each tune will work with both Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz, so you should be able to jam out regardless of your platform.

  • Avenged Sevenfold – Shepherd Of Fire
  • Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine?
  • Foo Fighters – Something From Nothing

Despite the 21-month lack of updates, the Rock Band library is still packed with great tunes – more than 3,500 tracks from nearly 1,500 different artists. The last news we heard from Harmonix about the game was that the Rock Band Network was shutting down (in September last year), and that a number of songs would start disappearing from the library (in October 2013!) – this latest update is unexpected, but certainly not unwanted.

Who knows whether it’s hinting at a return to rock for Harmonix!
