The physical editions of Broken Age will be released in Spring 2015, says new distributor Nordic Games. Developer Double Fine Productions reassures fans that boxed copies of the game are in the works for PC, Mac and Linux, so nobody has to miss out.
Reinhard Pollice, business & product development director at Nordic Games explains:
After releasing Costume Quest, Psychonauts and Stacking for retail in 2014, this marks another important step in our almost heist-free cooperation. With Broken Age, 2015 starts off great for aficionados of the adventure game genre.
Double Fine President and CEO Tim Schafer is “relieved” by the arrangement:
Having a widely distributed, physical copy of the game will make it more safe from solar flares and EMP bombs and stuff like that. As long as people store their disks in fire proof safes. People do that, right?
Company COO Justin Bailey explains that no, people don’t really do that any more, but points out that the game’s eagerly awaited Act 2 will be out at around the same time:
People who purchase the physical copy can get to playing the exciting conclusion without having to wait for the game to download!
No date more specific than “Spring” (in the northern hemisphere) has been discussed yet, but we’re hoping we won’t have to wait too long for the details – Act 1 of the game has been available for nearly 12 months now.
