Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta starts tomorrow

Brace yourself: The multiplayer beta for Halo 5: Guardians kicks off tomorrow, for those of you who picked up Halo: The Master Chief Collection. At least… that’s the plan, as long as Xbox Live stays online at the crucial time.

At this stage, the holiday downtime that impacted the network has seemingly passed, but there’s no guarantees that they won’t pop up again at a time when so many gamers around the world will be looking to play online.

If you want to spend these next few hours getting ready for Halo 5: Guardians, jump into either Halo: The Master Chief Collection or Halo: Nightfall to unlock some exclusive content that will carry into the multiplayer beta – and then into the full game!

The beta itself will – obviously – focus on the multiplayer side of the Halo 5 experience. You’re invited to jump into intense 4v4 showdowns, with developers promising matches that are both balanced and competitive. With seven maps and three game types, there’s plenty for you to explore – and feel free to customise your Spartan with a whole stack of different armour sets and gadgets.

To recap: The Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta will run from December 29 until January 18 – and you can only get in if you’ve got a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
