Elite: Dangerous launch trailer is outta this world

Elite: Dangerous is just a matter of days away from hitting shelves, and Frontier Developments has released a brand new trailer to celebrate. There’s also some good news: If you’ve been playing the test versions of the game, your progress will not be wiped when the full version launches.

As well as – obviously – getting a full-release game, Elite fans are in for a treat. Starting credits will be increased tenfold, and that bonus applies whether you’ve already played the game or are starting completely fresh.

More than two years after its successful crowdfunding, space game Elite: Dangerous hits Windows PC on December 16th (a Mac release is promised “later”), so there’s still time to pre-order a copy for £35/$50/€40, saving $5. If you do, you’ll get support for 3D TV, 4K, Oculus Rift and Track IR, as well as these nifty bonuses:

  • Additional Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location in-game.
  • Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs.
  • A ‘day one’ ship decal.
  • A digital players’ guide.
  • A digital concept art book.

Today sees Frontier launch Gamma 2.00 of Elite: Dangerous, which brings with it a new launcher and access to single-player combat missions.

If you’re still miffed about the game’s always online requirement, Frontier is officially considering all refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
