DayZ creator forms new NZ indie studio

New Zealand is getting a new game dev studio, as DayZ creator Dean “Rocket” Hall confirms plans to start one in Dunedin, on the South Island. Rocket announced his plans to leave Arma 2 studio Bohemia Interactive earlier this year, but has taken his time figuring out where to go next.

The new studio, RocketWerkz, started tentatively hiring in June. Now, according to Hall’s Twitter, they’re looking for more people to join the team.

Looking for programmers, artists, etc… for my new studio @RocketWerkz. These roles initially based Dunedin, NZ. Email

If you’re close enough to Dunedin that you’re tempted by this, let me make it even more enticing: Hall’s plan is to create “Valve in the South Pacific”.
