Microsoft is publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider

If you’re looking forward to Rise of the Tomb Raider when it launches next year, you’ll need to make sure you have an Xbox One. After some significant confusion, it’s been revealed that Microsoft is publishing the Crystal Dynamics sequel, making it an Xbox family exclusive.

The game, a sequel to the 2013 reboot of the classic series, was first revealed at this year’s Microsoft E3 press briefing. At the time, everyone assumed it would – like its predecessor – hit both PlayStation and Xbox when it finally launched.

Later in the year, at Gamescom, Rise of the Tomb Raider was heralded as an Xbox One exclusive, which we later learned meant both Xbox-branded consoles.

Now, Microsoft‘s Aaron Greenberg has confirmed exactly what’s going on with the game.

Yes we are publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider.

We’re hoping that this doesn’t rule out an eventual PC release (not unusual for Microsoft-published games), but if you were hoping to play the latest Lara on PlayStation, looks like you’re outta luck.
