Red Faction: Guerrilla finally supports Steamworks

Red Faction: Guerrilla has gotten rid of Games for Windows Live and embracing Steamworks for multiplayer. The change has been in the works for a while now, and has finally made the leap, following some great feedback from the community.

The decision was made by developer Volition and new IP owner Nordic Games, who picked up the franchise following the fall of THQ.

But wait! It’s not just online matchmaking and multiplayer that have received a makeover. Thanks to Steamworks, Red Faction: Guerrilla now features Steam Trading Cards, Behemoth Mode, six Wrecking Crew maps, leaderboards, voice chat and – of course – Steam achievements.

If you’ve already got the game on Steam, you’ll be prompted to migrate your save games and other data from GFWL the next time you load the game. You will not need to log in to GFWL to retrieve the information, and once it’s transferred, you won’t need to do it again.
