We love charts here at Player Attack, and one of the highlights of our week is receiving the latest details from UKIE, who send us the 10 best-selling titles in Britain, as announced by The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment.
It’s an interesting situation this week, where the new #1 technically misses out on being a glorious debut title, due to the fact that Grand Theft Auto V has been on shelves for more than a year now. That said, the new HD version of the game has jumped all the way from #32 up to #1, so Rockstar Games should be feeling a little bit chuffed.
Even without the new versions of the game, Rockstar has a winner on its hands – the original Xbox 360 / PS3 editions comfortably took home the record for highest-grossing game in a week (Week 38, 2013 – £94m total UK estimate), and it also holds the UK all-time revenue record. The new HD release has nudged it over the edge, so GTAV now owns the UK all-time unit sales record as well.
…but there are games that are not based in Los Santos – Far Cry 4 launched in the UK on Tuesday, and is “by far” the most successful game in the Ubisoft franchise, while Dragon Age: Inquisition has sold “almost exactly” the same on debut as Dragon Age II did in 2011.
