MiniDayZ takes a 2D approach to zombie survival

Gamers who have fallen out of love with DayZ now have a new way of exploring Chernarus – a free, top-down 2D interpretation known as MiniDayZ. It’s being distributed by Bohemia Interactive, and it has the official blessing of Dean “Rocket” Hall, creator of the original game.

In fact, Rocket says on Reddit that he “absolutely loves” MiniDayZ:

I think it’s awesome, amazing, addictive, and brings something really new to the experience.

Just like the full game, MiniDayZ has you searching for food and supplies, keeping an eye out for other survivors and – of course – fighting zombies. It’s been in the works for a while now, and has just reached version 1.0.

Want to play? It’s simple: Head to the Bohemia Interactive online store, sign up for an account (if you haven’t got one already), and jump right into MiniDayZ.

…if you want to play the “real” DayZ, it’s available now via Steam Early Access, but remember it’s not finished yet and may well be full of bugs.
