After those leaked images earlier in the week, we’ve been frothing at the mouth in anticipation of more news about Telltale‘s upcoming Game of Thrones adaptation. Now, the studio’s got some rock-solid confirmed details for us – and a brand new trailer to show it all off.
The game is – obviously – based on the HBO drama series more than George R.R. Martin’s books, even as it tells a story that isn’t explored on-screen. House Forrester is caught up in The War of the Five Kings, and each member of the household must do their part to prevent the downfall of the family.
Telltale explains that the decision to craft five playable characters is two-fold. Firstly, it “reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones“, but there’s a more interesting underlying current. Actions of one character can affect the way that others’ lives will play out – so multiplying one person’s actions by five… everything is connected.
As you might have suspected from those screenshots, some familiar faces will be popping up as you play through the game. Telltale has confirmed they’ll be backed up by some familiar voices, too. Lena Heady, Natalie Dormer and Iwan Rheon all reprise their roles as Cersei Lannister, Margaery Tyrell and Ramsay Snow, and – of course – Peter Dinklage returns to voice Tyrion Lannister.
The episodic Game of Thrones overlaps slightly with Season 3 of the HBO series, ending just before the beginning of Season 5. Episode One, Iron from Ice, is set to land “soon” on PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS, with Telltale promising “additional platforms” still to come.
