Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gets system specs

Okay folks. If you want to play Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes on PC, you’ll need to pay attention to these here system specs. They come in both minimum (which will run the game) and recommended (which will make it look better) – and with the game not due out until next year, you’ve still got time to save up and improve your rig.

A Konami spokesperson posted the details to the game’s Steam community hub with the quip:

Hopefully most of you are already prepared. You might find upgrading PCs is just one of those things that gets easier the more you do it.

Minimum Specifications:

  • OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit or later
  • Processor: Core i5 SandyBridge 4Core (4 Thread) 2.7GHz or above
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM or above
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 or above
  • DirectX: Version 11 or above

Recommended Specifications:

  • OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit or later
  • Processor: Core i5 SandyBridge 4Core (4 Thread) 2.7GHz or above
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM or above
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 760 or above
  • DirectX: Version 11 or above

The official word from Konami is that “there’s a good chance your rig can pull off a variety of in-game settings with a different piece of hardware than what’s listed”, but these are the configurations the studio recommends.

It’s an important thing to note, as the list does not reference any AMD cards or processors, which theoretically leaves a whole bunch of gamers out in the cold.

If you do use AMD hardware, the equivalent minimum requirement is a 6870/7790 (or better), with a 7950/R9 280 recommended for better results.

Of course, there’s always a risk that Konami‘s new Fox Engine hates AMD hardware, in which case, you really will need to change your rig in order to play Ground Zeroes. Sorry ’bout that – but Snake’s worth it, right?
