Anyone remember Driveclub? Turns out the PS4 racer is still having issues, but the team at Evolution Studios is offering an olive branch to affected gamers – but is free DLC enough to soothe these angry fans?
The studio has announced that – starting November 25 – the game’s two premium DLC packs will be made available for free, to anyone who purchased the full game. It’s a way of showing appreciation for the game’s “extremely patient and understandably frustrated” fans.
You’ll be given a total of five new cars, 22 new tour events, 10 new trophies and 10 new livery items – but fans are less than impressed by the gesture. Some claim it’s too little, too late, while those who have already purchased Season Passes for the game feel like they’re being cheated.
Those fans, Evolution explains, won’t miss out:
The Season Pass will be extended to include four extra packs in July 2015 to ensure players who purchased the pass get everything that was promised. So on top of the free DLC in November, the Season Pass will still include 38 cars, 176 tour events and 80 unique liveries.
But wait: There’s more! Evolution is also promising the next official Driveclub update will also bring with it a bunch of player-requested feature updates. These include the long-promised Photo Mode, improved collision physics, an adjusted corner-cutting penalty system, new options in the club menu, and a fix for updating club badges.
The update also brings with it three new maps for online and offline play – all three are playable in reverse, too!
- India – Yedepalli
- Scotland – Wester Ross
- Chile – Los Pelambres
There’s still an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with the release of Driveclub, particularly when it comes to that free PS Plus edition that still hasn’t eventuated. The studio promises the game “as quickly as possible”, saying it is “continually working on improving the server capacity”, but racing fans quickly are losing hope.
