Each week, gamers around the world log onto digital distribution platform Steam, to get their latest gaming fix, and every week, Player Attack lets you know which games were the most popular.
Well, that didn’t take long. Last week’s blockbuster FPS has already been pushed from its perch… by a management sim. Sure, it’s the latest in the ridiculously popular Football Manager series, but it’s a very different type of game. Maybe gaming’s taste is changing?
At time of writing, Football Manager 2015 is getting “mostly positive” reviews, but it’s not all as rosy as that. Long-time fans are complaining about the high occurrence of injuries and some unusually high-scoring matches as standard (have you ever seen an 8-8 draw at the professional level?). Even some of the “Recommended” reviews are less-than-glowing: “It’s like having an abusive husband who you know you should leave but his few endearing qualities keeps you coming back.”
