The third best-selling game in North America has scared its way into the record books, as The Evil Within racks up the highest first-month sales for a survival horror game, according to NPD.
Even though it didn’t sell as well as NBA 2K15 or Super Smash Bros for 3DS, The Evil Within sold enough copies in its 22 days on sale to smash the record. (Bethesda has not announced the actual sales figures at this stage though, so we don’t know quite how many copies it took…)
Other interesting statistics, from NPD analyst Liam Callahan: Of all the dollars spent on video games in October, nearly 80% were spent on new-generation consoles – Xbox One and PlayStation 4. (PlayStation 4 was, again, the best-seller.) This has contributed to the first 12 months of sales for the Xbox One and PS4 sitting 70% higher than the entire first year totals of Xbox 360 and PS3 combined.
