Watch here: First look at Tales from the Borderlands

It’s time to return to Pandora (again), as Telltale Games finally gives us a proper look at Tales from the Borderlands, the upcoming episodic take on the Gearbox franchise. It was announced nearly a year ago, and while the game’s been shown off behind the scenes at a few places, this is our first chance to share video with you!

Tales from the Borderlands is set on Pandora shortly after the events of Borderlands 2, and follows two adventurers on their “quest for greatness”.

First up, there’s Rhys, a Hyperion ‘suit’ who desires nothing more in life than to be the next Handsome Jack. He’s joined by Fiona, a con artist working on her biggest-ever job. You’ll actually be playing as both characters, as they work to recover a pile of cash they both think is theirs (hilarity ensues!).

Their journey will take you on a wild ride where gangsters, bandit lords, and Vault Hunters are just some of the obstacles you’ll encounter, in this new take on the award-winning universe created by Gearbox Software.

We can also now tell you that Rhys is voiced by veteran voice actor Troy Baker, with Laura Bailey stepping up to the role as Fiona. Other characters in the world will be voiced by Chris Hardwick, Erin Yvette, Dameon Clarke and Patrick Warburton. Of course, there are some other people involved too, but we’re not sure just who yet – stay tuned!

Arguably more important than the voice cast is the details about where you can get the game.

If you want to grab Tales from the Borderlands on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One, each episode will set you back around US$5 (or equivalent), with all five episodes available for US$20. Prefer it on PC or Mac? You can pick it up via Steam, the Telltale Online Store, or other online retailers – US$25 will get you all five episodes as they are released. (The game’s also headed to iOS and Android, by the way.)

Of course, we can’t give you an exact date, but rest assured the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands (titled Zer0 Sum) will be available “soon” – and by that we mean “before the end of 2014”. Squee!
