Tony Hawk is back! …well, nearly. He’s apparently working on a new game with Activision, which means the skate king should be kickflipping onto consoles some time in 2015.
The news came via Twitter (where else?), with Hawk taking time out from travelling around Ireland to announce that his previously announced mobile game Shred Session has been “put on hold indefinitely” before breaking the good news.
I’m currently working with Activision on a console game for 2015 (along with a new mobile game). I think fans of THPS series will be hyped.
THPS is, of course, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (also known as Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding in some regions), which debuted in 1999 and last graced our consoles in 2012 with the HD remake shown above.
Fan reactions to the announcement have been mixed. Some old-school Pro Skater fans are prepared to forgive the less-than-stellar HD remake and are getting appropriately hyped for the new project. Others are wishing Hawk had scrapped the brand and instead created new titles for either Underground or American Wasteland.
There’s also a third bunch of one-time fans who are very excited for the latest game about grinding, jumping and pulling off cool tricks around a city: They call it Sunset Overdrive.
