The “ultimate” console version of indie smash Terraria is less than a week away, with 505 Games announces it’s hitting the PlayStation Store from November 11. Among the changes for the PS4 version, the world is “almost triple the size” of the one we explored on the PS3.
Richard Gittins, senior brand manager at 505 explains that most remains the same:
We didn’t feel it was necessary to tinker with the core mechanics of the game, which have underpinned its success to date, but we’ve definitely been able to take this console version to the next level and implement some fantastic new features in the process.
What has changed (apart from the massive world size) is a whole stack of new content. 10 new ores, 4 new wood types, 31 new brick types, 12 new wing types, 29 new tinker combinations, 50 new paintings, 8 new friendly NPCs, 15 new pets, over 100 new enemies and 4 new bosses… plus more, adding up to 1,000 new things to play with.
Terraria for PS4 is also fully cross-play compatible, meaning if you have the game on PS3 or Vita, you’ll be able to transfer your saves or jump into multiplayer with gamers using all three consoles.
…if you don’t have the game already, there’s a limited time offer that’ll see you get the PS Vita version for free with the purchase of the PS4 game.
Terraria is an open-world action sandbox adventure, which surprised gamers when it launched for PC back in May 2011. Since then, we’ve seen versions pop up for PS3, Xbox 360, Vita, iOS, Android and Windows Phone, and now PS4 joins the clan, so you’ve really got no excuse not to play.
