Earlier this year, we learned that Warner Bros was working on a movie about Minecraft, following the success of The LEGO Movie. Oddly enough, for something that would have attracted so much hype, both sides of the deal have been silent since… but today, there’s some news!
Shawn Levy, the director behind the Night at the Museum series, is reportedly now attached to the project, says Deadline. At this stage, he, Notch, and producer Roy Lee are all remaining tight-lipped about what the film will actually be, but having Hollywood talent attached is a step in the right direction.
Levy has also worked as producer or director on Real Steel, The Internship and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, after getting his start in TV with The Secret World of Alex Mack.
The Minecraft adaptation is not expected until at least 2016, more likely later.
