Resident Evil spin-off TV series in the works

After a chain of successful film adaptations, the Resident Evil franchise has set its sights on the smaller screen, with German production house Constantin Film announcing it’s working on a TV spin-off of the series.

Martin Moszkowicz, executive board chairman of Constantin, explained that Resident Evil is not the only franchise in the works.

Constantin has a lot of feature film brands and we are moving them into television. For instance, we own the rights to the book series ‘The Mortal Instruments,’ and we just hired a showrunner in Los Angeles, and our offices in Los Angeles and Canada are starting production next year on at least two or three international shows.

No launch window for Resident Evil just yet – Constantin says it’s planning the series for some time after the next feature film release. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is planned for 2016, starring Milla Jovovich and Wentworth Miller.
