Germany’s Hockenheimring is one of the world’s most iconic racetracks – and fans were delighted with the news that it would return to the F1 calendar in 2014. Making sure to blend the lines between reality and video games, Codemasters has also included the circuit in F1 2014, today showing it off in a new hot lap video featuring Lewis Hamilton.
Yes, yes. We know. Hamilton didn’t win this year’s German Formula 1 Grand Prix that actually took place on the track – that title went to his teammate (and rival) Nico Rosberg, with Hamilton taking third (after Valtteri Bottas).
However, there’s still a few races left in the season, and with just ten points separating the two in the Drivers’ Standings, either one could well walk away overall 2014 Champion.
As the official video game of the 2014 racing season, F1 2014 takes into consideration all of this year’s rule changes, aerodynamics, turbocharged cars and even those redesigned noses. This year’s game includes the return of Hockenheim, plus new circuits in Russia and Austria, and the new night-race version of the Bahrain Grand Prix (as raced in April of this year).
F1 2014 races onto shelves across Australia and New Zealand from October 16th for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC. If you want a proper racing experience for your new-gen console, sit tight. Codemasters is working on a new Formula 1 title for Xbox One, PS4 and PC to land in 2015 – more details on that one soon!
